Despite releasing her first single more than 30 years ago, Madonna has been named the highest-paid musician of 2013.
The Queen of Pop earned 125 million US dollars (£77.4 million) from
June 2012 to May 2013, a ccording to Forbes Magazine, mostly thanks to
her MDNA Tour. Concert merchandise, her clothing line and perfume also helped the 55-year-old singer top the list.
Madonna's rival Lady Gaga is second with a yearly income of 80 million dollars (£49.5 million) , and she could top the list next year.
Eighties stars Bon Jovi are third with 79 million dollars (£48.9 million), mostly from their Because We Can tour, while c ountry singer Toby Keith follows with 65 million (£40.2 million).
British band Coldplay, with 64 million dollars (£39.6 million), are fifth, followed by Canadian teenager Justin Bieber with 58 million (£35.9 million).
US singer Taylor Swift is seventh with 55 million dollars (£34 million) and Sir Elton John is eighth with 54 million (£33.4 million).
Beyonce, who grosses two million dollars in every city she plays, and Kenny Chesney are in joint ninth and tenth place with 53 million dollars (£32.8 million), pulling in more than Jay Z, Katy Perry or Rihanna.
