THE
Deputy National Secretary of All Progressives Congress, Mallam Nasir
El-Rufai, on Saturday advised party aspirants not to embark on campaign
now but to turn their energy into building a solid foundation for the
2015 general elections.
Speaking in Minna at the commissioning
of the Niger State Secretariat of the party, the former FCT Minister
said the party could not afford to make the mistake made by the defunct
Congress for Progressive Change during the last election.
El-Rufai counselled aspirants and party
members to go back to their wards, build the party and ensure a solid
foundation for the party.
“I want to advise that all our aspirants
campaigning now and indeed all members should go to their villages and
wards to build the party. We should avoid the mistake made by CPC during
the last election. We cannot afford to become a party of contestants
without foundation,” El-Rufai advised.
He said with a solid foundation in all
the 774 local government areas of the country, candidates of the party
will have a good platform in 2015.
El-Rufai said the country could not
afford another four years of misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party,
hence he urged all APC members to join hands together and work in unity
to deliver the country from the incompetence of the ruling party.
The APC national leader also frowned at
the growing level of corruption and promotion of religious and tribal
sentiments by the ruling party in the country.
The party’s North Central National
Vice-Chairman, General Ahmed Aboki, while commissioning the new
secretariat said with the coming together of all progressives in the
zone, the party was set to take over all the six states in the region
along with the Federal Capital Territory.
“With the spread and the growing
acceptance of our party, I make bold to say that come 2015, North
Central will cease to be a zone for the PDP but All Progressives
Congress ,” Aboki said.
