Dove Cameron is hitting the slopes in her new Disney Channel movie, "Cloud 9." The "Liv and Maddie" star plays "snowboarding princess" Kayla Morgan who, after being dropped from her competitive team, is forced to take desperate measures to get back on the mountain.
Although the 18-year-old is no stranger to the sport — "I started snowboarding when I was about 7," she told MTV News" — you won't see her performing any of her own stunts in the flick.

Dove Cameron Played It Safe On The Set Of 'Cloud 9'

"I think I did about 0 percent of my own stunts. Disney was very keen on keeping us all safe," she laughed. "And I was so sure that I was going to be able to exhibit my skills in this movie, and it's just not even for three seconds."
While Dove didn't get to show off her athletic ability, the movie does highlight a more dramatic side of the actor.
"My favorite scene was actually the scene between Kayla and her father in the house after her father has just revealed to her that competitions have been rigged for her to win," she teased of the movie, which premieres Friday night (January 17). "She's feeling a lot of betrayal, and it's sort of the first time we see her be vulnerable, and it's the first time we see her be bare-bones and she has a really poignant moment with her father and it's definitely my favorite to film, and probably my favorite to see come to fruition as well."

"Cloud 9" premieres tonight at 8 p.m. ET on the Disney Channel.
