Why Was Justin Bieber Wearing a Red Jumpsuit in Jail?

By now we've seen dozens of celebrity mug shots. Seriously … when you hear the name Lindsay Lohan, doesn't one of the handful of images of her in an orange jumpsuit pop into your head?

So why, then, was Justin Bieber was decked out in red at his court appearance on Thursday afternoon at Miami-Dade Circuit Court?

Different jails have different colors to classify inmates, but in Bieber's case, it's pretty simple.
Janelle Hall, community affairs unit manager at Miami-Dade County jail, confirms to Yahoo that Justin's red jumpsuit signifies that he is a "high-profile inmate."

Sometimes that can mean the inmate will be held in isolation. Given Bieber's status and notoriety, it's likely that was the case for the "Bad Day" singer.

There has been no shortage of public shaming today for Justin. Not only did the Miami Beach PD tweet out up-to-date information on the social media site (even blasting out the pop star's mug shot for the world to see), but there was a live video stream of his bond hearing.

Officials insist there was no malice intended for Bieber, but rather Florida is very open with their public record laws.

Bieber, 19, was pulled over in a rented Lamborghini early Thursday morning for drag racing. When police performed a field sobriety test, Justin failed and was arrested for DUI. He was also charged with resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired driver's license.
Justin was released from jail around 11:30 a.m. PST. If Bieber was fazed by the whole ordeal, it didn't show. The singer climbed up on an awaiting SUV and waved to a crowd of fans gathered outside.

So far, no sign of model Chantel Jeffries, who was believed to be the passenger in Justin's car when he was arrested.
We're sure Selena Gomez isn't missing riding shotgun with the Biebs.
