It started like a wild rumour and it is currently generating more heat than expected. It is not what is expected of the union but, the reality of the drama is that, it is happening. The one year marriage of Nollywood Yoruba genre ‘Numero Uno’ actress and producer, Funke Akindele has hit the rock.
The union which arguably was Nollywood’s most celebrated wedding of 2012 held May 26 at The Haven event centre, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, has finally headed for Nollywood’s marriages final destination,‘The Rock’.
If Mr. Kehinde Oloyede better known as Al-maroof’s Facebook post on the issue is not to be taken seriously, the continuous silence from both parties is enough evidence to conclude that something is definitely fishy in the highly celebrated 2012 marriage.
Earlier this week, fans of the suave actress were shocked by a post on Facebook by the man who stole the heart of their darling actress announcing his separation with his wife, Funke Akindele. The message reads, “It’s with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs. Olufunke Akindele, We’ve both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences. We still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends.”
The content of the message sparked off different insinuations as Celebrity Newsmen bombarded the families of both parties for confirmation. Anonymous sources from Kenny’s camp earlier alleged Kenny’s Facebook account being hacked saying that some unscrupulous people are using his Facebook account to create panic. However, the man who is directly concerned has remained mute on the issue. Likewise, the wife is not helping matters as well. The couples’ continuous silence is making some people make sharp conclusions by saying ‘silence is consent’. As argued by one of Funke’s colleagues, a Blackberry messenger broadcast by either Funke or her husband Kenny will stop all these noise if it’s actually a rumour. “It takes less than a minute to type a BBM message to say everything you have been hearing is false. I am still happily married to my husband or wife depending on who is doing this. But this continuous silence will only bring out issues even if none exists,” The actress who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
Instead of helping the matter by making a comment, the Jenifa star changed her BB display name DP from ‘Mrs. Funke Akindele Oloyede’ to ‘everybody loves Jenifa’.
Husband, Kenny Oloyede on his part was also quoted as saying he needed his wife’s attention, which is why he used the popular social network Facebook, to announce their separation after he lost contact with his wife for almost two months. “I did so to catch Funke Akindele’s attention” he was quoted as saying.
Another source close to Funke disclosed to ekotainment that, the two have indeed gone their separate ways. They’ve actually been having issues for a while and Funke had actually been planning to divorce him (Kenny) quietly, but Mr. Oloyede decided to make it public.
Further probing on the matter however resulted in a revelation that, early this year, Funke discovered that, her husband who earlier hd two other wives before their wedding last year has yet impregnated another lady. No confirmation yet, as Funke Akindele is yet to respond to numerous enquiries but insiders say the couple has gone through a tough time.
Akindele however came out on Thursday to dispel the allegations. She said her marriage is intact and that there is no friction whatsoever between her and her husband. “What proof do you have?” she asked, threatening legal action against all those who claim her marriage has hit the rocks.
