Brad Pitt calls the breakout star a "very special lady."
Lupita Nyong'o gave another acceptance speech on Saturday. The breakout star of 12 Years a Slave won Best Supporting Actress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, beating out Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey for the honor. The win gives the newcomer a boost going into the Oscars.
But awards voters aren't the only ones enraptured by the talented beauty. Nyong'o's 12 Years a Slave producer and co-star Brad Pitt gushed about her on the SAG Awards red carpet. "She's very special," Pitt told E! News. "Very special young lady. We're going to see great things from her."
Speaking about the awards season success of 12 Years a Slave, Pitt said, "It's great. It also ensures that more people are going to see it. And in my mind this is a film that only comes along once in a decade and everyone should see this. It's that good. It's moving, it's inspirational. It's why I wanted to go into film in the first place."
Indeed, the Academy Awards contender won Best Picture at the Producer's Guild of America Awards in an unprecedented tie with Gravity. Many are rooting for the Steve McQueen-helmed masterpiece to make history at the Oscars with a Best Director win, which would be a first for a Black director.
