Further afield, there are still tickets for the last night of the three-day Rhythm & Vines festival in Gisborne. The event's sister festival, Rhythm & Alps, at Wanaka's Cardrona Valley, will attract a 10,000-strong crowd.
La De Da festival in Martinborough is another popular destination for New Year's Eve revellers, many of whom have been camping on site for the two-day event featuring international acts A$AP Rocky and Flume.
New Zealand music sensation Stan Walker is hosting the G2 Resolution party in Tauranga from midday, and the Black Seeds are the headline act at Mount Vibes New Year's Eve Music Festival at ASB Baypark Stadium, Mt Maunganui, which kicks off at 3pm.
