Nigeria’s
Supers and Eagles will this Friday begin the defence of their title in
this year’s Copa Lagos Beach Soccer championship as they will face
Germany’s Manschaft in their opening duel at the Eko Atlantic City.
The match kicks off at 4:15pm.
The Supers and Eagles have won the first
two editions of the Copa Lagos and the Nigerians will now have to sweat
it out against the former European Beach League champions.
This will be the first time Germany will
take part in the Copa Lagos, and the Germans are expected to provide a
combination of power and flair on the beach of the Eko Atlantic City.
Nigeria’s Supers and Eagles and Germany’s
Mannschaft have never met as far as beach soccer is concerned, but the
coach of the Nigerian team, Audu Adamu, is optimistic that the Germans
would fall.
“We are meeting them (Germany) for the
first time and my boys are in top gear to condemn them to defeat in our
first game,” Adamu told supersport.com.
Meanwhile, Senegal who have been crowned
champions of Africa three times in 2008, 2011 and 2013 will face the
Cedars of Lebanon in the opening match this Friday and the kick off time
is 3pm local time.
Lebanon’s beach soccer team are making their second appearance at the competition after narrowly failing to win it last year.
